It is an important means of generating income, creating employment, reducing poverty, earning foreign exchange, and promoting cross-cultural understanding and cooperation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to data from the\u00a0<\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unwto.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">World Tourism Organization<\/a>, global tourism revenue<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> reached US $474 billion in 2002 and may exceed US $1.5 trillion by 2010. Europe accounts for 50% of global tourism revenue, followed by the United States, which accounts for 26%.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> However, South Asia&#8217;s share of global tourism revenue is only 1%. The <a href=\"https:\/\/ourworldindata.org\/tourism#:~:text=Arrivals%20by%20world%20region,-This%20visualization%20shows&amp;text=The%20United%20Nations%20World%20Tourism,billion%20international%20arrivals%20per%20year.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">number of international tourists<\/a> reached 715 million in 2002, compared with 693 million in 2001. The effectiveness of efforts to promote tourism depends on the quality of these services.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Pakistan<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has a long and rich history, cultural diversity, geo-strategic location, and charming scenery, so it has great tourism potential. The country&#8217;s tourism products can be divided into four categories: <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>religious tourism, archaeological and historical tourism, adventure tourism, and traditional tourism<\/strong><\/span><\/em>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These are briefly described below:<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Religious_tourism\"><\/span><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Religious tourism:<\/strong> <\/span><\/span><\/em><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pakistan is the melting pot of two great religions (Hinduism and Buddhism) and another habitat (Sikhism) worldwide. Hassan Abdal<\/span><b>\u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and\u00a0<\/span><b>Nankana<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><b>Sahib<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><b>Gurdwara<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are huge attractions for Sikhs from all over the world. Then came the mysterious and sacred temple, which attracted many pilgrims from different regions. It has special spiritual significance for Buddhists living in wealthy areas in East and Southeast Asia. Then there are monuments built by dynasties and rulers, especially the Mongols. In festivals, Passant is perhaps the most popular form of international tourism. Held in February \/ March to announce the spring event, Sheng attracted a large number of foreign tourists.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But Pakistan has not yet modernized its huge tourism potential.
